T20 World Cup: Australia gets new captain, Steve Smith out, the one who hit 23 sixes in IPL is also out

Gradually all the teams for T20 World Cup 2024 are being announced. After the current champion England, Team India, New Zealand and South Africa, now the 2021 champion Australia has also presented the names of its 15 players in front of everyone. The special thing is that Australia has got a new captain. Cricket Australia has not chosen captain Pat Cummins, who won the ODI World Cup and was a hit in IPL 2024, but has chosen all-rounder Mitchell Marsh as the leader of the team. Marsh has been appointed the full time T20 captain of Australia. Whereas, veteran batsman Steve Smith and young opener Jake Fraser McGurk, who is creating havoc in the IPL, have not got a place in the squad of 15 players.

Australia won the T20 World Cup title for the first time in 2021. Most of the players who were in that squad have got a place this time too. Aaron Finch, who was the captain of the team at that time, had retired last year itself but Steve Smith was still a part of the T20 team but this time he has failed to make a place for the World Cup. In their place, new faces like Tim David and Cameron Green have been included. Overall, 6 players from the 2021 squad are not part of the team this time.
