Surya Grahan 2027: Solar and lunar eclipses are considered very important in Sanatan Dharma. Solar eclipse occurs on Amavasya day and lunar eclipse occurs on Purnima Tithi. The first solar eclipse of the year 2026 took place on 17 February, on the new moon day of Phalgun month. In astronomy, solar and lunar eclipses are considered a special astronomical phenomenon. An eclipse of the Sun occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth and the Sun’s light does not reach the Earth. The second solar eclipse of the year 2026 will take place on August 12.
However, more than the solar eclipse that will occur this year, the eclipse that is going to occur in the year 2027 i.e. next year is being discussed more. It is being said that this solar eclipse that will occur in the year 2027 will be the longest and rarest solar eclipse of the 21st century. During this period, the sky will appear dark for 6 minutes 20 to 23 seconds a day. This eclipse of the Sun will occur on August 02 next year. Generally, the effect of a total solar eclipse lasts only for 2 to 3 minutes, but next year this time will be more than double. For this reason it is being called the longest solar eclipse of the century.
Why will this solar eclipse last so long?
The reason behind this length of solar eclipse is related to astronomy. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth. At such times, the Sun’s corona is covered by the Moon for some time, due to which sunlight is not visible during the day. The closer the Moon is to the Earth, the longer the duration of the eclipse. On August 2, 2027, the Moon will be near its perigee (which is the Moon’s closest point to the Earth). Because of this, the Moon will appear so large that it will completely cover the Sun for an unusually long period of time.
Partial eclipse will be visible in India
In India, this event will be visible only as a partial solar eclipse. In such a situation, the Sutak period of this solar eclipse will be valid in India. The Sutak period of the solar eclipse starts 12 hours before. During this period, all the rules of the eclipse will be followed. During this period, the doors of temples and worship of God will also be closed.
Solar eclipse will be clearly visible in these countries
This eclipse will be clearly visible in many parts of the world. This view will be especially visible in Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal), North Africa (Egypt, Libya), Middle East (Saudi Arabia, UAE).
