MP Road Development Projects: Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain metropolitan areas are going to get big benefits from new road, ring road and highway projects in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has given instructions to complete all major road projects before Simhastha 2028.

The road and connectivity map of Madhya Pradesh is going to change rapidly in the coming years. The state government is now not just building roads connecting the cities, but is also preparing to give a new impetus to the economy of the entire region. Keeping the capital Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain at the centre, work on road, ring road, highway and elevated corridor projects is being expedited on a large scale.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav clearly said in the review meeting of the Public Works Department that new road projects will strengthen the economy of the state and create new opportunities for investment and employment. He also gave instructions to complete all the necessary road projects before Simhastha 2028.

Bhopal and Indore-Ujjain metropolitan area will get direct benefits

The Chief Minister said that Bhopal and Indore-Ujjain metropolitan areas have started getting direct economic benefits of new road projects. In the coming time, Jabalpur and Gwalior will also progress rapidly with this infrastructure development. The major projects the state government is focusing on include-

  • Indore-Ujjain six lane road
  • Ujjain-Jawara Greenfield Fourlane Highway
  • Indore-Ujjain Greenfield Fourlane Project
  • Bhopal Western Bypass
  • Sagar-Damoh four lane road project
  • Barwah-Dhamnod Four Lane Project

The government believes that these projects will greatly benefit industry, trade, tourism and religious tourism.

Road construction work will be completed before Simhastha 2028

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav directed the officials to complete all the necessary road projects a few months before the celebration of Simhastha 2028. There is a possibility of crores of devotees coming to Ujjain during Simhastha, hence strengthening the road and traffic system is the priority of the government.

Reduction in road accidents

It was told in the meeting that the state has got positive results in the field of road safety. A decrease in road accidents has been recorded in 2026 compared to the first quarter of 2025.

  • Accidents in 2025: 16,006
  • Accidents in 2026: 15,278
  • Total reduction: 728 accidents

Apart from this, the number of injured and dead has also decreased. The government claims that due to road safety measures, there has been an average decline of 15 to 20 percent in accidents.

Special focus on black spots

At present 481 black spots have been identified in the state. Many steps have been taken to prevent accidents at these places-

The Chief Minister told the officials that medical facilities should be provided immediately near accident prone areas so that lives of people can be saved in time.

Ring roads will be built rapidly in big cities

Ring road projects are being progressed rapidly to reduce traffic pressure in big cities of the state.

Major Ring Road Projects:

  • Bhopal Western Bypass: 35.6 kilometers
  • Jabalpur Ring Road
  • Gwalior Ring Road
  • Ujjain Ring Road

Apart from this, preparations are also going on to build new ring roads in cities like Ratlam, Dewas, Sagar, Satna, Rewa and Katni.

Railway overbridge and elevated corridor will change the picture

Madhya Pradesh has joined the leading states of the country in terms of railway overbridge construction. According to the government-

  • 105 railway overbridges have been built on PWD roads.
  • 16 new ROBs approved under Road Development Corporation
  • 25 ROB and RUB approved under NHAI

Apart from this, work is also going on at a rapid pace on elevated corridor projects to ease urban traffic. This work has been completed in Jabalpur, while about 75 percent of the work has been completed in Bhopal and Gwalior.

Government’s focus on ‘Pragati Path’ projects

At present six big ‘Pragati Paths’ are under construction in the state.

  • Narmada Pragati Path
  • Malwa-Nimar Development Path
  • Madhya Bharat Development Path
  • Bundelkhand Vikas Path
  • Vindhya Expressway
  • Atal Pragati Path

The government claims that these projects will give a new direction to the industrial and economic progress of the state.

Emphasis on safety of farmers and common people

The Chief Minister said in the review meeting that along with road development, people’s safety is also equally important. He directed that farmers who bring fruits and vegetables from villages to cities should be linked to the helmet distribution campaign so that two-wheeler accidents can be reduced.
