Sune Luus, Laura Wolvaardt Power South Africa to 8-Wicket Win Over India, Take 2-0 Lead

India Women’s National Cricket Team vs South Africa Women’s National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: South Africa women’s cricket team cruised to an eight-wicket win over India women’s cricket team in the second T20 International on Sunday, chasing down 148 with 17 balls to spare to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

After restricting India to 147, South Africa’s openers Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus set up the chase with a commanding 106-run partnership. Wolvaardt scored 54 while Luus made 57 as the hosts dominated proceedings before Tazmin Brits and Annerie Dercksen completed the chase comfortably.

Earlier, India got off to a strong start but suffered a dramatic collapse. Shafali Verma top-scored with 57, bringing up her 15th T20I half-century in her milestone 100th match, while debutant Anushka Sharma contributed 28. However, India slipped from 99 for 2 to 147 all out, losing eight wickets for 48 runs.

South Africa’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Chloe Tryon (3 for 22) and Tumi Sekhukhune (3 for 31) leading the attack, while Nonkululeko Mlaba returned economical figures of 1 for 17.

India’s bowlers struggled to contain the South African batters on a surface that offered some assistance but did not pose enough threat. Shreyanka Patil was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 35, but the visitors failed to build pressure as South Africa chased down the target with ease.

With two wins in as many matches, South Africa will head to the Highveld firmly in control of the series.
