A sad news has come for the Indian cricket world. Former Karnataka cricket fast bowler SL Akshay has died suddenly due to a heart attack. SL Akshay has said goodbye to the world at the age of just 39. Akshay was playing for Sapphire Cricket Club in the third division match of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in Bengaluru on Sunday. After bowling four overs, he complained of feeling uncomfortable and walked off the field. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

SL Akshay was a part of the Karnataka team that won the Ranji Trophy title in the 2014-15 season. He played 6 first class matches, 3 List A and 9 T20 matches for Karnataka from 2011 to 2013. During this time, he played his last first class match with star players like KL Rahul and Manish Pandey. According to the statement issued by Karnataka State Cricket Association, ‘Akshay represented Karnataka brilliantly in first class cricket. Even after his playing career, he continued serving cricket with full dedication and passion.

Let us tell you, even after the end of his sports career, Akshay remained associated with cricket. He was coaching at the junior level and working with the Karnataka Under-19 team. He played an important role in improving the young players and giving them the right direction. Karnataka State Cricket Association has expressed condolences on his demise. Akshay’s demise is a big shock not only for his family but for the entire Karnataka cricket family.
