Such Ramayana made by Japanese, which Prime Minister Modi liked

The year 2024 is going to be very special for all the countrymen. The moment for which everyone has been waiting for years will be completed on 22nd January. When Ram Lala will sit on his throne after a long wait of 500 years. Whenever there is talk of ‘Ramayana’, all those films and serials come to mind which you and I have grown up watching over the years. Valmiki’s Ramayana was brought to the big and small screen by different makers in their own style, some were hits and some were surrounded by controversies.

Like ‘Adipurush’ had become a part of the biggest controversy of the year 2023. But during this period, Ramayana made by the Japanese remained the topic of discussion. Do you know about the Ramayana written by the Japanese, which was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during ‘Mann Ki Baat’?

Ramayana made by Japanese, PM liked it

During the controversy of ‘Adipurush’, a film was much talked about, not because it was made jointly by Japan and India. The biggest reason for this was creativity. Not only has every detail of Valmiki’s ‘Ramayana’ been shown in the film, a new style has also been added to the film, which brought newness to Ramayana.

Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama

The animation quality of ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Ram’, released in 1993, was also highly appreciated by the people. But from research to content, a lot of time has been taken to make this film.

“Japanese director Yugo Sako came to know about Ramayana in 1983 i.e. 10 years before releasing the film. If he liked the story, the director also started research. In such a situation, he first read those 10 versions of Ramayana which were available in Japanese language. After this he thought of animating it, for which help was taken from Indian animators. During this time, he was introduced to Indian culture, which has been shown brilliantly in the film.”

Now you might also be thinking that it took Yugo Sako 10 years just for research. But the real reason behind this is: the narrative, the clothes of the characters, the Ram period architecture and the religious sentiments of the Indians which they did not want to hurt. Of course, there will be a mix of India in its animation techniques, but Yugo himself has worked on each and every thing for 10 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised

This is on 29 May 2022, when Prime Minister Narendra was addressing his 89th Mann Ki Baat. That year, PM Modi had met two producers of Tame Production, a Japanese company. This company was associated with ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Ram’. After being released in 1993, it was released again in Indian theaters only in 2022.

When it was shown on the big screen for the first time, it was released not only in Japan but also in America. However, due to the issue of Ram Janmabhoomi, objection was raised to the release of the cartoon version in India. However, later its rights were purchased and released on TV.
