Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh may soon create a new identity as the major jewelery hub of the country. Yogi government has moved forward with the plan to develop a state-of-the-art jewelery park here at a cost of Rs 800 crore. The objective of this ambitious project is to provide an organized structure to the bullion business and strengthen its access to the global market.
On Wednesday, Meerut Development Authority (MDA) presented the model of the project to local businessmen. According to officials, this jewelery park will be developed on about 36 thousand square meters of land in Vedvyas Puri area. Its most special thing will be its unique architecture. The structure of the park will be designed in the shape of a crown, while the main entrance will be given the shape of earrings.
All business related facilities will be available in one premises
Showrooms, wholesale trade centres, production units, artisan workshops, exhibition spaces, banking facilities and shared service centers will be developed in the proposed Jewelery Park. The objective of the scheme is to bring all the activities related to the jewelery industry in a single complex, so that both traders and customers can get convenience.
Employment and exports will get a boost
Business organizations believe that this project can give a new identity to Meerut’s jewelery industry at the national and international level. This will increase production capacity and also give impetus to exports. A large number of direct and indirect employment opportunities are likely to be created. MDA officials informed the businessmen about the project structure, facilities, plot allotment process and potential business opportunities. Now the eyes of the businessmen are fixed on the final form of plot allotment and proposed rates.
