US Ambassador Sergio Gore revealed the deep friendship between Trump and Modi. He explained how Trump can call Modi at any time, considering that Modi sleeps as little as him. India-US trade agreement is also in the final stages.
Washington: US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore has narrated an interesting story of the deep personal relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump. He told how Trump considers Modi as his friend and can call him at any time. He said this at the 9th ‘US-India Strategic Partnership Forum’ (USISPF) Leadership Summit held in Washington DC.
Sergio Gore said, “A few months ago I was at a UFC event in Miami with President Trump. At that very moment the President asked me to call Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I told him that it is 6 o’clock in the morning in India. Trump’s response to this was, ‘He must have got up.’ He’s just like me, he doesn’t sleep’.
Explaining the meaning of this incident, Gore said, “This incident shows that when you are someone’s friend, you do not need to decide everything in advance. President Trump sees Prime Minister Modi as a friend. When you are someone’s friend, you answer their phone, you ask about their well-being.
In the same summit, Sergio Gore also made it clear that the ongoing talks between India and America regarding a trade agreement are in their final stages. He said that now only one or two percent work is left in it.
