Independent MP from Purnia, Bihar, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav was kept standing in the dock of MP-MLA court of Ghazipur for an hour. NBW was issued against him, after which he reached the court. He was released by the court on a bond of Rs 50 thousand. Along with this, the application for condonation of absence of the 10 other accused who were with him was also presented by the advocate. The court has fixed December 4 as the next date for debate on this matter.
Government advocate Neeraj Srivastava told that in the year 1993, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav used to be an MLA and the Ghazipur Police had received information about his arrival in Ghazipur with a long convoy along with another MLA colleague during the election campaign. Then the then police station chief BN Singh stopped the convoy of these people and filed a case against hundreds of people including Pappu Yadav, Umesh Yadav. It is said that at that time Pappu Yadav had entered Ghazipur border via Buxar Ujiyar Ghat to create disturbance in the election meeting.
MP-MLA sent to court for hearing
In this case, the police had presented the charge sheet in the court of the Chief Justice Magistrate. Where all the accused in the case were acquitted on 31 July 2023. But against that order, an appeal was filed by the government advocate in the District Judge’s court on 6 September 2023. After that, the District Judge’s court sent the case to the MP-MLA court for hearing.
Non-bailable warrant issued
Continuous action was going on in this case in MP MLA court. Despite repeated calls, no one was appearing on behalf of the accused. After this, the court took a tough stand and issued non-bailable warrant against 11 people including Pappu Yadav on 22 October. He was scheduled to appear in court on November 4. But Pappu Yadav disobeyed the court orders and did not register his presence.
Released on a bond of Rs 50 thousand
After this, the court directed the inspector in-charge of Mohammadabad to arrest him and also asked him to file an explanation. Seeing the strict nature of the court, Pappu Yadav appeared in the court with his supporters on Thursday. He gave the application. During this time he had to stay in the dock for more than an hour. After this, the non-bailable warrant was canceled and he was released on a personal bond of Rs 50,000. However, while talking to the media, Pappu Yadav said that he respects the court. When he got the court order from the police, he appeared in the court to respect the court.
