According to reports, Bandara, who was out of the Sri Lankan team, beaten the neighbor due to a dispute over parking, after which he was arrested by the police.
Police arrested at night
According to a report by ESPin-Cricinfo, Sri Lanka police arrested on Saturday 8 March. Police said that on Saturday evening, the police got the news of quarrel and beating in Kolamanna area of Piliandala. Police said that they received a complaint from a neighbor that Bandara had entered someone’s house and is harassing. According to this, Bandara had a hot debate with his neighbor, which turned into a scuffle on seeing it. During this, Bandara attacked the neighbor.
When the police received a complaint, they arrested this Sri Lankan cricketer at night. However, he got bail immediately, but Bandara has been ordered to appear in court on 12 March. Incidentally, Bandara has also represented the Sri Lanka Police in domestic cricket and also contributed to the team to win the tournament. Now this police also arrested him.
What did the Cricket Board say?
Bandara made his ODI and T20 format for Sri Lanka in 2021 and during this time also played 6-6 matches in both formats. He scored 141 runs in ODIs and 97 runs in T20. However, he is running out of the team since 2023. The report quoted the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket as saying that these players are not contracted with the board. However, CEO Ashley Decilva has definitely said that if the investigation is found that Bandara has embarrassed the game and the board, then action will be taken against them.
