Actress Sreeleela has opened up about the importance of regional languages and why she makes a conscious effort to speak the local language wherever she travels for work.
Sreeleela began her acting career in the Kannada film industry before finding immense success in Telugu cinema. She later expanded her presence to Tamil films and is now gearing up for the release of her maiden Hindi film this year.
Although she comes from a Telugu-speaking family, Sreeleela is fluent in English, Hindi and Kannada in addition to her native Telugu. She can also hold conversations in Tamil, making her one of the few young actresses comfortable working across multiple film industries.
The actress, who is currently among the busiest stars in Indian cinema, said speaking the local language is her way of showing respect to the people and culture of a region.
“Since I work in different film industries, I travel to many places. Whenever I visit a region, I try to speak in the local language. It is a way of showing respect to the people, their culture and their language,” she said.
Sreeleela believes language serves as an emotional bridge between actors and audiences. According to her, speaking the local language during promotional events helps celebrities connect more closely with fans and makes interactions more meaningful.
On the professional front, Sreeleela is currently working on a Hindi romantic drama opposite Kartik Aaryan. She is also set to share screen space with Dhanush in an upcoming project.
