Preparations are in full swing for the Maha Kumbh Mela to be held in Prayagraj in January. The Transport Department has also started preparations on war footing. In Etawah, the Transport Corporation has started the exercise of painting about 489 buses of Etawah region in saffron color for the convenience of the passengers going to Mahakumbh. 229 buses from Etawah region are being painted in Mahakumbh.
In Etawah region, 181 buses are already running in saffron color on many routes. A demand has also been made to send 50 more new buses from the headquarters for the general passengers of the region. Along with this, 100 contract drivers are to be recruited. This information was given by Etawah Zone Manager Umesh CS Arya. He told that in this Maha Kumbh Mela, 229 buses will run directly from the district to Prayagraj in the second phase from January 22 to February 7.
Eight depots of Etawah region
At present, rejuvenation work is going on on all the buses. 181 buses are already running in saffron color at many places, which are being rejuvenated in two phases. After the makeover, all the buses will be painted saffron. Regional Manager Etawah Umesh Arya said that there are eight depots in Etawah region. This includes the names of Etawah, Saifai, Mainpuri, Bebar, Chhibramau, Farrukhabad, Shikohabad, Firozabad.
Buses will run as per need
Buses will be run from all these eight depots as per the need during the Kumbh Mela, so that buses do not face any problem on other routes. Also, direct Prayagraj service will be provided to the people of Etawah district and surrounding districts who take Kumbh bath. He said that for the convenience of the passengers, 100 more contract drivers will also be recruited, for which they will be interviewed and sent to Kanpur for training.
