Soormas Secure First Victory in Sher-e-Punjab T20 League

In a remarkable display of teamwork, the Amritsar Soormas clinched their first win in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League by defeating the Fazilka Falcons by seven wickets at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

They successfully chased down a target of 183 runs with 15 balls remaining.

Fazilka Falcons Set a Challenging Target

After winning the toss, the Soormas opted to bowl first, facing immediate pressure as the Fazilka openers made a strong start. Vihaan Malhotra scored an impressive 60 runs off just 34 balls, featuring eight fours and two sixes. Captain Sanvir Singh contributed significantly with a quick 63 runs from 35 balls, including eight fours and three sixes. Their partnership laid a solid foundation for the Falcons before the Soormas mounted a comeback in the later overs.

Akash Pandey emerged as a key bowler for the Soormas, achieving figures of 2 wickets for 27 runs in his four overs. Adhiraj Singh Mangat and Sahil Khan also made notable contributions, each taking two wickets.

Soormas Execute a Successful Chase

The Soormas began their chase with a mix of quick runs and early setbacks, losing wickets at crucial moments. After Rahul Kumar was dismissed, leaving the team at 39 for 3, Naman Dhir and Abhay Choudhary took charge of the innings.

Dhir showcased his batting prowess with an unbeaten 88 runs off 48 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes. Choudhary supported him well, remaining not out with 58 runs from 35 balls, including seven fours and a six. Together, they formed an unbroken partnership of 147 runs, guiding the Soormas from 39 for 3 to a total of 186 for 3 in just 17.3 overs, sealing a convincing seven-wicket victory.

The Soormas aim to carry this momentum into their next match against the Bathinda Royals on Friday.
