Sonam Wangchuk Roasts Aamir Khan For Claiming They Never Met Before 3 Idiots: Short-Term Memory Loss Huwa Hoga

Amid the student protests and Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, 3 Idiots actor Omi Vaidya, aka Chatur, questioned Aamir Khan over his silence. The superstar, in his response, made a shocking statement. He claimed that he did not even know about Wangchuk at the time of making the Rajkumar Hirani directorial. He also said that Phunsuk Wangdu, contrary to popular belief, was not based on the Ladakhi activist. Wangchuk has now reacted to the same and taken a jibe at the actor for forgetting their meeting. Reacting to a viral video showing them at an event, he said that Aamir was in character for his film Ghajini and must have suffered short-term memory loss.

On YouTuber Prakhar Gupta’s podcast, Sonam Wangchuk reacted to t and said, “Uss time jab unhone kaha ki hum toh mile bhi nahi the… Toh baad me kuch videos aaye jisme woh Ghajini outfit mein mere ek speech ko dekh rahe the. Shayad woh Ghajini outfit mein the toh short-term memory loss huwa hoga, 15 second me bhul gaye honge. Toh, mai hairaan nahi hoon. Warna bahot detail mein mile the hum (At the time, when he said that we had never even met, some videos later surfaced showing him watching one of my speeches while dressed in the Ghajini outfit. Perhaps he was so immersed in the Ghajini character that he suffered short-term memory loss and forgot about it within 15 seconds. So, I’m not surprised. Otherwise, we had met in great detail).”

He continued, “Humne suna hai na, woh apne character mein ghus jaate hai. Toh shayad Ghajini mein itne ghuse the ki jab woh award function me aaye, jisme main award le raha tha, woh bhi bhul gaye honge. Warna bahot detail mein mile, bahot ideas discuss kiye (We often hear that actors get so deeply into their characters. Maybe he got so immersed in Ghajini that when he came to the award function where I was receiving an award, he forgot that too. Otherwise, we had met at length and discussed several ideas).”

However,  clarified that he would not say the film was based on a recording or biography. He suggested that this could be considered a form of influence or inspiration. He believes that Aamir took those ideas with him, discussed them with his team and made changes to the original script. He added that perhaps the actor did not tell them that he had come across these ideas through their interaction and incorporated them into the story.

Sonam stated, “Unhone aisa hi daala hoga toh baaki ke jo unke co-writers ya directors hai unko nahi pata chala hoga ki yeh unhone apna aaj ka idea daala, kahi se aake, milke, baat karke daala. Isse mujhe koi farq nahi padhta hai. Jaane do (If he incorporated it this way, perhaps his co-writers or directors didn’t realise that he had brought in these ideas after meeting me and discussing them. It doesn’t bother me. Let it go).”

At an event, the actor  as a misconception and said that he did not know Wangchuk at the time they were making the film. He added that he had recently seen a video of Chatur making the claim but maintained that neither director Hirani, writer Abhijat Joshi nor he himself knew Wangchuk then.

The activist’s reaction has gone viral on social media. Meanwhile, Aamir is yet to react to the same.
