JSW MG Motor India recently introduced the first mass-market PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) – the . Prices of the SUV start at Rs 25.70 lakh without BaaS and Rs 21.79 lakh with BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) scheme. The next in line is the Jetour T2 PHEV SUV (i-DM), which will come under the JSW Group and Chinese Automaker Chery partnership.
The T2 will be locally assembled at JSW’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad) facility in Maharashtra. The PHEV SUV is set to hit Indian roads by the 2026 Diwali festive season, with an estimated price range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Powertrain Setup
The biggest highlight of the Jetour T2 i-DM is its powertrain, which comprises a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 26.7kWh battery pack. The petrol engine alone delivers a maximum power of 154bhp and 220Nm of torque. The SUV comes with both single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD configurations.
High On Mileage
The battery pack offers an NEDC-certified pure electric range of 139km. The Jetour T2 i-DM has a claimed NEDC combined fuel consumption of 0.8-litre/100km, which is equivalent to 125kmpl. It’s important to note that this figure doesn’t mean the T2 i-DM can actually drive 125km on one litre of fuel under normal driving conditions. The test cycle starts with a fully charged battery and takes into account the vehicle’s electric driving capability. With the battery depleted, the SUV has a claimed fuel consumption of 5.4-litre/100km, which is nearly 18.5kmpl.
Premium Features
Similar to the global-spec version, the India-bound Jetour T2 will offer several premium features such as a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, hill start and hill descent assists, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and more.
Design Highlights
The official teaser reveals horizontal LED headlamp strips housed within circular units, pixel-shaped LED fog lamps, pronounced bumpers and wheel arches and an upright bonnet. The SUV will feature a JSW badging instead of Jetour lettering.
