Sobhita Dhulipala has spoken about the pressure faced by women in the entertainment industry amid the recent online discussion surrounding Katrina Kaif’s appearance following childbirth.
Katrina has largely maintained a low public profile since welcoming her son Vihaan in November 2025. A recent public appearance, however, led to social media users commenting on her post-pregnancy appearance, triggering criticism of the trolling.
Several members of the Hindi film industry have spoken against such scrutiny, and Sobhita was asked about the broader issue during an NDTV event.
Responding to a question about the expectations placed on women in the film industry, Sobhita observed that women are frequently expected to meet several different standards at the same time.
She also pointed out that individuals respond to public criticism differently and that there cannot be a single way of dealing with such scrutiny.
“Women are expected to be strong, women are expected to be sensitive, women are expected to be many things,” she said, adding that everyone handles public criticism in a manner that works for them.
Sobhita’s comments came amid continued debate over the treatment of actresses after they become mothers, particularly the expectations surrounding their appearance and return to professional commitments.
Earlier, Salman Khan had also criticised the attention being paid to Katrina’s appearance after childbirth.
During an episode of ‘Bigg Boss 20’, Salman questioned why a woman’s weight or appearance should become a subject of scrutiny immediately after she gives birth. He noted that gaining weight during pregnancy is natural and said Katrina could work on her fitness when she returned to films.
He also stressed that a new mother should have the freedom to spend time with her family rather than face pressure over her professional comeback or appearance.
