Snowfall on the mountains, fog in Delhi-UP… how will the cold be in December?

Cold has started increasing due to falling temperature in many states including the country’s capital Delhi. The Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop in the temperature in the coming days. Apart from Delhi, cold has also increased in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand. Snowfall in the hilly areas has also affected the temperature. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of fog in the plains and snowfall and rain in the mountains.

According to the Meteorological Department, there has been a slight increase in the minimum temperature and a slight decline in the maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR during the last 24 hours. The maximum temperature in Delhi is between 24 to 27 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is between 9 to 12 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was near normal and the minimum temperature was near normal at most places. Also, fog has started occurring in the morning and evening. There was light fog at Safdarjung Airport on Saturday evening.

Delhi’s air improves

There was light fog in Delhi on Sunday morning. The effect of winter also increased due to drop in temperature and light wind. The weather department has predicted clear sky in the afternoon and light fog in the evening. The air in Delhi has also improved. But it still remains in the dangerous category. According to CPCB, Delhi’s air quality index on Sunday morning is 313, which falls in the severe category. The AQI of many areas of Delhi is still above 350. Shadipur’s AQI is 369, Mundka’s AQI is 363, Anand Vihar’s AQI is 345, Jahangirpuri’s is 342 and Nehru Nagar’s AQI is 347.

Snowfall started on the mountains

Snowfall has started in the mountains. Due to snowfall in Anantnag and Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir, the faces of the people there are bright. The number of tourists here is expected to increase due to snowfall. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in the hilly areas on Sunday and Monday. After this, there is a possibility of rain from 4th to 6th December. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain or snowfall in the higher areas of Kullu, Lahaul, Spiti, Chamba, Kangra and Kinnautra of Himachal Pradesh.
