Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi starrer Tamil movie Amaran has been roaring at the box office. After the release of the movie, Amaran has been compared with Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer 2021 film Shershaah.
Now, reacting to the same, the actor stated that he does not like comparisons. He further said that the movie stands on its own. Sivakarthikeyan said that the only intention of showing this film to the world is to highlight the sacrifice of Major Mukund Varadarajan and his wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sivakarthikeyan said “Shershaah is a very good film, but I don’t like comparisons. This (Amaran) stands on its own. This is not to prove to anyone that this is better or equivalent. It is to show what Mukund and Indhu have given to this country. That was the only intention.”
“With all due respect to all the army films, Rajkumar has his uniqueness. He didn’t try to compete with any other film,” he added.
Sivakarthikeyan played the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan and Sai Pallavi essayed the role of Indhu Rebecca Varghese. The movie also stars Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Suresh Chakravarthy, Shreekumar and Mir Salman in key roles. Rajkumar Periasamy’s directorial was released in theatres on October 31, 2024. The film had a box office collection of Rs 184.43 crore after 9 days of its release.
On the other hand, Shershaah was released in theatres in 2021. The movie features Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Manmeet Kaur, Munira Kudrati, Shiv Panditt, Nikitin Dheer, Shataf Figar and Rahaao in key roles. The movie is currently streaming on OTT platform Prime Video. The film was based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra and his contribution to the 1999 Kargil war.
