He praised Sai Pallavi’s acting ability, but also said that the final opinion would be formed only after seeing her Sita form on screen. While talking to Variety India, Deepika Chikhlia said that she has seen Sai Pallavi’s work and she is a very brilliant actress. However, she clearly said that at the moment it is difficult to say how she will look as Sita. According to her, “I have seen her work. She is an excellent actress. But how she will look as Sita will be known only after seeing her on screen. Right now I cannot say anything. In Tulsidas’s Ramayana, Sita has been described as a woman with almond-like eyes, special height, hair and complexion. Ramanand Sagar was looking for this look and he saw it in me. If the actor fits the character, then it is a good thing.”

Will the old ‘Ramayana’ have an impact on the new film also?
Deepika Chikhalia believes that Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’ is still present in the hearts of people. He said, “People still recognize me by the name of Sita. Many times people forget my name, but they remember that I played the character of Sita. This is my identity. An actor wants to play different roles, but the influence of our ‘Ramayana’ will be very heavy on the new ‘Ramayana’. The new generation also watched it again during the pandemic. So it will not be easy to forget it. There is no mention of curly-haired Sita anywhere in the Ramayana. “Can’t get it.”
Why was ‘Ramayanam’ trailer postponed and what information did the makers give?
The trailer of the film was to be released after San Diego Comic Con, but it was postponed at the last moment. Producer Namit Malhotra wrote on social media, “Today is a very special day for our ‘Ramayana’. My dream of taking Ramayana to the whole world has now come true through our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. That is why we will now release the trailer of the film globally later.” At present the new release date has not been announced.

What is the budget of ‘Ramayanam’ and who are in the star cast?
According to reports, the budget of ‘Ramayanam’ directed by Nitish Tiwari is around Rs 4000 crore. In the film, Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi is playing the role of Mata Sita and Yash is playing the role of Ravana. Apart from these, many big actors including Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor will be seen in important roles. The music was composed by Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman has taken over. The first part of the film will be released on Diwali 2026 and the second part on Diwali 2027.
