Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made a big announcement in the closing ceremony of Shipra Tirtha Parikrama organized in Ujjain and said that in Simhastha 2028, devotees will get the virtuous benefit of bathing in the clean and flowing water of Mother Shipra. After almost six decades, such an opportunity will come when lakhs of devotees will be able to take a dip of faith directly in the natural flow of Shipra River.
This ceremony organized on the spiritual land of Ujjain became a unique confluence of religious faith, cultural heritage and development plans. Amid ghats decorated with lamps and devotional music, the Chief Minister assured to make Simhastha 2028 “historic and memorable”.
Holy bath will be held on 30 kilometer long ghats
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that keeping in mind Simhastha 2028, more than 30 kilometer long ghats are being developed along the banks of Shipra river. Better facilities will be provided to the devotees at these ghats so that the devotees coming from all over the country and the world can take bath in a safe and orderly manner. He said that in Simhastha 2016, the devotees were given the facility to bathe in the water of Mother Narmada, but people wished that Shipra’s own flowing water should be available. Now the state government is working in the same direction so that both faith and tradition are respected.

“A new record will be made with the blessings of Baba Mahakal”
The Chief Minister said that with the blessings of Baba Mahakal and Sant Samaj, new records will be set in the event of Simhastha 2028. He assured that to make the event world class, continuous work is going on on infrastructure, ghats, roads, water and security arrangements. Referring to the lamps seen during the Shipra Tirtha Parikrama, he said that the entire atmosphere seemed like a festival of lights. The Chief Minister described it as a wonderful confluence of faith and culture.
Emphasis on heritage conservation along with development
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said in his address that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, special attention is being paid to heritage conservation along with development in the country. He said that India is identified by its tradition of cultural harmony and interaction. Referring to the Ayodhya Ram temple, he said that the way the society showed cooperation and harmony after the court’s decision, it shows the democratic and cultural strength of India.
Bhojshala and Raja Bhoj were also mentioned
In his address, the Chief Minister mentioned the historical relations of Raja Bhoj and Ujjain-Bhopal. He said that the path for installation of the statue of Maa Vagdevi in Bhojshala located in Dhar has now been cleared after the court’s decision. He said that the present era is the time of renaissance of India’s cultural heritage, where ancient identity is being linked with modern development.
Jal Ganga Enhancement Campaign will strengthen the water structure
The Chief Minister said that the Madhya Pradesh government is working on the conservation of wells, ponds, rivers and reservoirs across the state under the Jal Ganga Augmentation Campaign. He said that participation of the general public is also being ensured in this water conservation campaign. The government is trying to maintain the natural flow of rivers and also maintain environmental balance during religious events.
Maithili Thakur’s presentation stole the show
Bihar’s famous folk singer and assembly member Maithili Thakur made the atmosphere devotional with her bhajan presentation at the function. His melodious voice and traditional presentations kept the devotees mesmerized for a long time. While welcoming him on the stage, the Chief Minister also extended good wishes to him on his arrival in Madhya Pradesh.
