Actor-turned-producer Shweta Tripathi has been chosen for the WIF India x Gold House Scholarship at the Toronto International Film Festival 2026, giving her an international platform to introduce her first feature as a producer. Through the scholarship, Tripathi will take Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan to the Gold House Pitch at TIFF, where she is set to present the project before producers, financiers, executives and other film professionals from around the world.
A New Chapter Behind the Camera
Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan marks an important step in Tripathi’s transition from acting to feature film production. The project is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjoy Nag and features Tripathi alongside Tillotama Shome.
The film explores a queer love story, adding a distinctive subject to Tripathi’s emerging work as a producer. Her appearance at the Gold House Pitch will give her an opportunity to discuss the project with potential international partners and industry professionals while exploring possibilities for the film’s wider journey.
For Tripathi, producing represents more than simply taking on another role in filmmaking. She has described the move as a way to approach stories from a different perspective and become involved in their development beyond acting.
Tripathi Started Producing Through Theatre
Tripathi’s producing experience began on the stage rather than in feature films. In 2025, she established her theatre production company, AllMyTea, with Cock, a play written by British playwright Mike Bartlett.
The production was staged during Pride Month, marking an early chapter in her work as a producer with stories and performances rooted in contemporary themes. Her move into feature production now takes that experience to an international film industry setting.
Speaking about Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan, Tripathi said she has always believed in the ability of stories to connect with people, but producing has allowed her to engage with them in a completely different way. She added that the film is a project she strongly believes in and that TIFF could help her find suitable international partners and meaningful conversations around it.
WIF India Seeks Wider Opportunities for Women Filmmakers
Guneet Monga Kapoor, Academy Award-winning producer, CEO of Sikhya Entertainment and founder of WIF India, said the organisation aims to create opportunities for women filmmakers at points where international relationships can significantly influence a project’s development.
She described Tripathi’s journey from actor to producer as an interesting transition and said the scholarship would allow her to develop that producing practice within a global industry environment.
Rabia Chopra, Head of Programme and Strategy at WIF India, said the partnership with Gold House was designed to create opportunities that extend beyond a single project. She noted that Tripathi will become the first filmmaker from India to present at the Gold House Pitch, adding significance to her appearance at TIFF.
WIF India Expands Its International Film Network
The scholarship forms part of WIF India’s broader efforts to connect women filmmakers from India with international platforms and industry networks. The organisation previously took a delegation to TIFF in 2025 and has also worked with programmes including the Cannes Producers Network and impACT Lab.
The collaboration with Gold House represents another step in those efforts, with the focus on creating access to global industry conversations for women working across different areas of filmmaking.
Bata India is serving as the Official Footwear Partner for the scholarship. With Tripathi preparing to present Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan at TIFF 2026, the programme gives her first feature as a producer an opportunity to enter conversations with an international filmmaking community.
