Actress and entrepreneur Preity Zinta has spoken candidly about the realities of balancing motherhood with her professional commitments. In an interview with IANS, the Soldier actor acknowledged that managing work, family and personal responsibilities at the same time can be demanding, but said having a reliable support system has allowed her to pursue different priorities in life. Zinta also reflected on the additional responsibilities many working mothers continue to handle after returning home from their jobs.
Zinta Says Women Often Carry Multiple Responsibilities
Discussing the challenges faced by working mothers, Zinta said women have long been accustomed to handling several responsibilities simultaneously. She pointed to the example of mothers who manage households and family duties, even when they do not have a conventional job outside the home.
She said women who work professionally often continue caring for their children and families once their workday ends. According to Zinta, that combination of professional and domestic responsibilities can make working mothers especially adept at managing multiple tasks.
Her comments came from her own experience of trying to maintain a career while raising children. Rather than suggesting that the arrangement is effortless, Zinta acknowledged that managing both sides requires considerable support and planning.
A Strong Support System Has Helped Her
Zinta said she considers herself fortunate to have access to resources that make it possible for her to balance her personal and professional commitments. She credited the help available to her as a major reason she has been able to continue pursuing different interests.
“I am very lucky and fortunate and I’m very grateful to God that I have a lot more means so I can have help. I couldn’t have come here if I didn’t have help,” she told IANS.
At the same time, the actress stressed that outside assistance does not replace a mother. She explained that while her own mother and other people can provide support, motherhood itself cannot simply be substituted by someone else.
Zinta said that people who want to pursue different goals in life sometimes have to manage their priorities according to the circumstances. In her view, the challenge becomes more manageable when adequate resources and assistance are available.
She Praises Mothers Without Similar Resources
The actress also used the conversation to acknowledge women who manage careers and families without having access to the same level of support. Zinta said she has great respect for those women and considers their ability to handle such responsibilities particularly admirable.
“There are a lot of women who don’t have the means and they are doing it,” she said, adding that seeing such situations makes her appreciate the choices and assistance available to her.
Her comments therefore focused not only on her own circumstances but also on the different realities faced by working mothers. For Zinta, having help is something she views as a privilege rather than something to take for granted.
Life in Los Angeles With Her Family
Zinta is based in Los Angeles, California, where she lives with her American husband, Gene Goodenough, and their twins, Jai and Gia. She stepped away from films for an extended period while concentrating on her personal life, motherhood and business interests.
Her time away from the screen lasted eight years before she returned to cinema with the period drama Batwara 1947. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film stars Sunny Deol and was released in theatres on August 14, 2026.
The return marks another phase in Zinta’s career, as she continues to navigate acting alongside her responsibilities as a mother and entrepreneur.
