Maulana Jarjis Ansari quoted a verse from Srimad Bhagavad Gita during his speech. He said that it is written in Srimad Bhagavad Gita – ‘Yogi Yunjit Sataramatmanam Rahasi Sthitah’. Lonely Yatchittaatma Nashirparigrahaah’. Maulana claimed that in this verse the devotees have been instructed to perform the puja with the whole body. Maulana further said that Lord Krishna himself used to offer namaz five times a day.
In his speech, Maulana said that if people of Hindu religion read their scriptures carefully then they will start liking Islam religion. It is told in Hindu texts that Islam is a religion which is global. The same thing has been written in the texts related to Lord Ram and Krishna. It is being told that this statement of Maulana is old, which is going viral again amid the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi controversy.
Maulana misinterpreted the verse of Gita
However, Maulana has misinterpreted this verse of Srimad Bhagavad Gita in his statement. Actually, this is the 10th verse of Chapter 6 of Bhagavad Gita. The real meaning of this verse is, ‘The duty of a yogi is to continuously concentrate his mind, body and soul on God. Take yourself to a secluded place and be alone and, keeping your mind and senses under control, become free from all kinds of desires and attachments.’ There is no mention of Namaz or Islam anywhere in the verse.
