An X user named Kaveri Rana, who is also referred to as “The Dog Mother”, shared a concerning video of a dog being thrashed brutally on the balcony of a flat in Greater Noida. As the video went viral, it drew the attention of police leading to the arrest of the person involved in animal cruelty.
Rana, along with other netizens believed the person seen in the visuals to be a woman, however, a recent PTI report quoted police officials to clarify the culprit was a 40-year-old man named Harishankar Gupta.
40-year-old man arrested for brutally thrashing pet dog
The X post by the animal lover made on November 19, read, “A #pet dog is brutally thrashed & beaten by this #evil woman living in Flat 1103, Vidhi Tower [T3], Mahagun Mantraa 1, Sector 10, West), Kheri Rd, Vaidpura, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh 203207”, she wrote tagging police officials to look into the case and initiate action. In an update regarding the case, Gupta has been arrested.

The act of animal cruelty was captured on camera and it showed Gupta repeatedly swinging a dog and banging it on the floor. As the clip was shot in poor lighting, the blurry footage initially identified the middle-aged man to be a woman who mercilessly tortured the dog.
The condition of the victim dog is unknown.
Politicians, Film Stars & Other Animal Lovers React
The video of animal cruelty continues to go viral drawing the attention of several people on the internet, including big names from the cine industry and political arena. Animal lovers voiced out for the rescue of the dog, and demanded strict punishment for Gupta.
“Horrible! I hope she* is punished like she* is punishing this baby”, one wrote. “My heart weeps for him. Arrest her* and never let her near an animal”, another said.
Earlier, as the video rolled out online and sparked outrage, DCP Central Noida addressed the issue. He reacted to the viral video and mentioned that the local police had been directed to look into the matter.
“In this regard, the police station in-charge Ecotech-3 has been directed to investigate and take necessary action”, the DCP wrote on X.
On November 22, a PTI report stated that the culprit who involved in brutally thrashing the pet dog at his balcony was identified and arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India responded to the post and requested the user to share further details about the incident with them to ensure necessary assistance.
