Shocking Question: ‘If you are fat, how will you do a job?’ The girl was shocked after hearing the question in the interview

Body shaming, i.e. making fun or embarrassing someone about the shape and color of their body, is still present in our society. But imagine, what if someone does not get a job because of his body shape? Something similar happened in South Korea, where a woman was refused a job because of her weight.

This shocking incident came to light after a social media post. It was told in the post that during the interview the woman was asked, "If you can’t even control your obesity, then how will you handle this job?" This post has sparked a new debate on social media. Many people said that this is not an isolated incident, but this kind of discrimination is common. On X (formerly Twitter), a user named Sierra (@Sierra_rak) while sharing her friend’s experience wrote, "Oh, Korea is so cruel. My friend failed her job interview in Korea and she said it was because she was overweight… The interviewer said, ‘If you can’t even manage your fat, how will you manage a job?’ What is all of this about!"

Omg Korea is soooo savage. My friend failed her job interview in Korea and she said it’s because she was overweight… apparently, the interviewer said "if you can’t even manage your fat, how will you manage a job?" WTHHHHHDo they really say those things straight up to the job…

A lot of people gave their reactions on this post. One user commented, "No one ever called me ‘chubby’ in the UK, not even my English husband. But as soon as I came to South Korea, I became fat in the eyes of the people here, and even in the eyes of my family. They used to say to my face that I was overweight and I should lose it."

Another user described it as ‘typical Asian culture’. they wrote, "I was overweight when I was a teenager. Everyone in the family, including my parents, used to call me ‘fat’ in front of others."

This post of Sierra and the comments on it show how deeply rooted body shaming is even today in the world and how much it troubles people mentally.
