In the politics of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is the biggest face in the elections. Shivraj Singh has a lot at stake in this election. Shivraj, one of the veteran leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party, has been the Chief Minister of MP 4 times. He joined RSS at the age of just 13 and continued to achieve success. Before becoming CM, he was also a five-time MP from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat. He has also been MLA 5 times.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, born on March 5, 1959, is the leader who has been the Chief Minister for the longest time in Madhya Pradesh. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1972 at the age of 13. He has an MA degree, he was a gold medalist in MA in Philosophy from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. He was born in Shihore district, and belongs to the Kirar community. He started his political journey in his school life itself. He was the President of the Student Union of Model School in 1975. Then in 1976, during the Emergency, he was put in jail for political activities. He was in jail for some time.

Elected for the first time on Budhani seat

His state level political career started in 1990 from Budhani assembly seat, when he was elected from here. In the Lok Sabha elections held this year, he contested from Vidisha seat and was victorious. He was again victorious in the Lok Sabha elections in 1996. Lok Sabha elections were held again in 1998 and he was successful in winning this election also. In 1999, he was successful in becoming an MP in the 13th Lok Sabha elections. During his parliamentary career, he was also associated with many committees.

In the 2003 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan had contested against Digvijay Singh, in which he was defeated. Although the party had got a bumper victory then. In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Shivraj again won the election from Vidisha. This time he won by more than 2.60 lakh votes. Meanwhile, he was also made the National General Secretary of BJP.

How much property does Shivraj have?

A big change in the career of Shivraj Singh Chouhan came on 30 November 2005 when he became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. After becoming the Chief Minister, he won the by-election on Budhani seat by more than 36 thousand votes. Then in 2008, his party won the elections and he became the Chief Minister for the second time. In the 2013 elections, BJP again returned to power with majority and Shivraj took oath as CM for the third time. Although the party fell short of majority in the 2018 elections, it returned to power in 2020 due to defection.

Chief Minister Shivraj is contesting elections again from Budhani seat. In his affidavit filed for this, Shivraj Singh said that his income in the year 2022-23 was Rs 32.63 lakh. Shivraj has Rs 1.10 lakh and his wife Sadhna Singh has Rs 1.15 lakh in cash. Apart from this, Shivraj has 96 grams of gold jewelery (worth Rs 6 lakh), while his wife has jewelery worth Rs 34 lakh. Shivraj also has a revolver. Overall, Shivraj has movable assets worth Rs 1.31 crore while his wife has movable assets worth Rs 1,09,14,644. The wife also has an Ambassador car worth Rs 1.53 lakh.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan is credited with starting many welfare schemes during his tenure. He has run many schemes in the field of women empowerment. During the tenure of CM Shivraj, there are major schemes like Janani Suraksha and Janani Pratran Yojana, Gaon Ki Beti Yojana, Swagatam Laxmi Yojana, Tejaswini, Usha Kiran Yojana, Lado Abhiyan and One Stop Crisis Center.
