According to the holiday program released by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE, the Indian stock markets will be closed on Friday, March 14 on the occasion of Holi. Now the direct stock market will open on March 17 on Monday. This means that the stock market has now got a long weekend. On the other hand, apart from the stock market market, derivatives, securities lending and lending (SLB), electronic gold receipts (EGR), and the currency market are all closed.
In contrast, the futures market of the country will be closed only half -day. This means that MCX will be closed from 9 am to 5 pm. After that, it will be open for its evening session from 5 pm to 11:30 pm. This holiday is being seen at a time when there is a steady decline in the stock market. On Thursday, the Nifty is 15 percent below its peak. Which is the longest series of continuous monthly decline.
Stock market declines on Thursday
The local stock market also declined on Thursday and the BSE Sensex fell 201 points. The Sensex declined in the fifth consecutive trading session due to selling in realty, IT and vehicle stocks. The Sensex based on thirty stocks could not retain the initial lead and closed at 73,828.91 points with a decline of 200.85 points, or 0.27 percent. The stocks included in the Sensex were in the loss while eight were in profit. The index opened with an edge and went up to 74,401.11 points at a time. However, it came down due to select selling in shares of major companies and fell to 259.17 points at one time. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also fell 73.30 points, or 0.33 percent, to close at 22,397.20 points. At one time it was broken up to 93.15 points during trading.
The stock market will be closed on these dates too
The stock market is going to be closed for 14 days in the current year. Which includes the day of Holi 2025. If we talk about other holidays, then Eid-ul-Fitra on 31 March, Mr. Mahavir Jayanti on 10 April, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April and Good Friday on 18 April. At the end of the year, markets will remain closed for holidays related to Diwali on Independence Day (15 August), Ganesh Chaturthi (27 August), Gandhi Jayanti (2 October, Dussehra) and on 21 and 22 October. Apart from this, Guru Nanak Jayanti on 15 November and Christmas on 25 December.
