When is Shani Pradosh fast?
According to the Panchang, the Trayodashi tithi of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month will start at 10:22 pm on June 26, 2026 and will continue till 12:43 pm on June 28, 2026. However, based on Udaya Tithi, Shani Pradosh Vrat will be observed on Saturday, June 27 only. This special combination of Saturday and Trayodashi further increases the importance of this fast.
Special importance of worship during Pradosh period
In Shani Pradosh Vrat, along with the entire day’s fast, the evening Pradosh period is considered most important. This year the auspicious time of puja will be from 7:20 pm to 9:29 pm. It is believed that by worshiping Lord Shiva at this time, one gets many times more auspicious results and the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled.
Worship Lord Shiva like this
During Pradosh period, first of all take bath, wear clean clothes and purify the place of worship. After this, anoint Shivling with water, Ganga water and milk. Then offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Bhasma, Shami Patra, white flowers and fruits to Lord Shiva. During the puja, chant Om Namah Shivay mantra and recite Shiv Chalisa. At last, light a ghee lamp and perform aarti and pray for the happiness and prosperity of the family.
How to worship Shanidev?
On the day of Shani Pradosh, along with the worship of Lord Shiva, Shani Dev is also worshipped. Offer mustard oil to Shanidev, donate sesame seeds and light a lamp under the Peepal tree. Along with this, chanting the mantra Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah is considered auspicious. It is believed that by doing this the evil eye of Saturn is calmed and the problems of life gradually start reducing.
