According to the Panchang, the Trayodashi date of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month will start at 10:22 pm on 26 June 2026. This date will last till 12:43 am on June 28, 2026. Since the effect of Trayodashi Tithi will remain for the whole day on 27th June and the same day is also Saturday, hence on the basis of Udaya Tithi Shani Pradosh Vrat Will be kept on 27th June.
Why is Shani Pradosh fast considered special?
According to religious beliefs, Shani Pradosh Vrat is considered a good opportunity to get the blessings of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. How to worship Shani Pradosh Vrat?
On the day of Shani Pradosh fast, resolution for the fast is taken after morning bath. Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati and Nandi Maharaj are worshiped in the evening during Pradosh period. Water, Ganges water, milk, Belpatra, Dhatura and white flowers are offered on Shivalinga. After this, chanting Om Namah Shivay mantra and reciting Shiva Chalisa or Shiva Stuti is considered auspicious. Many devotees also offer mustard oil to Shani Dev on this day and donate it to the needy people.
Importance of Pradosh Kaal
Evening time is considered most important during Pradosh fast. There is a religious belief that at this time Lord Shiva bestows blessings on his devotees on Kailash. Therefore, worship done during Pradosh period gives special results.
