Kisan Mahapanchayat Delhi: A day after the violence in Delhi during the Parliament march of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), now another big challenge has arisen before the Delhi Police. A large number of farmers are preparing to reach Delhi on Tuesday 21st July. In view of the proposed Kisan Mahapanchayat in the capital, security arrangements have been tightened and additional police forces have been deployed at many places.

Kisan Mahapanchayat will be held at Kisan Ghat

Kisan Mahapanchayat is being organized under the banner of ‘Desh Bachao Morcha’ at Kisan Ghat in Delhi on Tuesday. This Mahapanchayat has been called in protest against the proposed India-US trade agreement. According to farmer leaders, a large number of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and other states are reaching Delhi to attend this meeting.

Barricading on Shambhu border, heavy police force deployed

Pictures shared by news agency ANI showed a large number of farmers gathered at the Shambhu border. More than 1,000 farmers were present on this border connecting Punjab and Haryana. In view of the situation, the administration has made extensive security arrangements. Heavy police force has been deployed on the border, barricades have been installed at many places and surveillance on movement has been increased by placing cement blocks on the bridge over the Ghaggar river.

Sarwan Singh Pandher accused Haryana government

Punjab farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher criticized the Haryana government’s action on Tuesday morning. They allege that farmers are being prevented from going to Delhi peacefully. Talking to reporters at Fatehgarh Sahib, Pandher said that the farmers want to go to Delhi only to participate in the Mahapanchayat, but the Haryana government has stopped them by barricading the Shambhu border. He also alleged that this action has exposed the real face of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Pandher said that the Chief Minister often comes to Punjab and makes big promises to the people, but the farmers are not being allowed to go to Delhi.

Gurnam Singh Charuni in custody, farmers protested

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni) chief Gurnam Singh Charuni was taken into custody by police in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district on Monday. According to the organization’s spokesperson Prince Varaich, Charuni’s car was stopped by the police on National Highway-152D near Pehowa, after which he was taken into custody. Later the police officers took him with them.

Farmers gathered on Hisar-Chandigarh highway

As soon as the information about Charuni’s detention was received, farmers gathered at the toll plaza located on Hisar-Chandigarh road of National Highway near Thana village and started a dharna. During this, farmers raised slogans against the central government and protested by sitting on the road. Police force was also deployed at the spot to keep an eye on the situation.

Delhi Police issued traffic advisory

In view of the Kisan Mahapanchayat, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for July 21. Commuters have been advised to avoid major routes like Delhi Gate, Rajghat Crossing, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shantivan Chowk, Rajghat DTC Depot and IP flyover, as traffic diversions and temporary restrictions may be imposed in these areas. Apart from this, drivers have also been appealed to avoid using Satyagraha Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road, Rajghat DTC Bypass Road and surrounding roads, so as to avoid jams and inconvenience.
