Senior Advocate Indira Jaising will be awarded the 5th Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award by Mumbai-based Centre for Study of Society and Secularism at a function held in Udaipur on April 19.
Jaising will also deliver a talk on: “Judicial Accountability and Appointment of Judges”. Jaisingh is a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India; Additional Solicitor General 2009-2014; Expert member CEDAW 2009-2012; founder of Lawyers Collective; and founder of legal magazineĀ www.theleaflet.in.
Dr Asghar Ali Engineer (1939- 2013), an academician, human rights activist, and writer, was the founder and Chairperson of the Centre for Study of Society and Secularism.
He led the Bohra reform movement that started in 1972 and led organisations and committees like The Central Board of the Dawoodi Bohra Community to represent Bohras who managed their affairs independent of the community’s spiritual head, the Syedna.
