India’s Seema Kaliramna secured the bronze medal in the women’s discus throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. Jamaica’s Samantha Hall won gold with a best throw of 61.66 metres, while Canada’s Julia Tunks took silver with 60.67 metres.
Seema achieved third place with a best throw of 58.65 metres.
Seema began her competition with a foul but quickly recovered, recording a 57.32-metre effort before delivering her medal-winning throw in the third round. Fellow Indian athlete Nidhi finished just outside the medals in fourth place with a best throw of 57.10 metres.
In weightlifting, Indian competitor Lovepreet Singh earned a silver medal in the Men’s +110kg heavyweight category. Lovepreet performed strongly throughout the contest, maintaining a comfortable lead from his opening lift to his fifth attempt. However, New Zealand’s David Andrew Liti executed a remarkable final lift of 223kg in the clean and jerk, overcoming a 15kg deficit to claim gold by a margin of one kilogram.
This silver represents an improvement on Lovepreet’s previous bronze medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. With this medal, India increased its overall tally as the weightlifting events concluded.
Additionally, Indian long-distance runner Parul Chaudhary finished 13th in the women’s 5000m final with a time of 15:08.56 seconds during the Glasgow competition.
