skoda And Volkswagen recently launched updated models of its SUVs Kushaq and Taigun in the Indian market. Both these SUVs are quite popular in their segment and with the update they have got a new design and more features. After SUVs, now it is the turn of sedan cars. The Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus are currently undergoing testing and are expected to be launched in the coming months. Let’s see what special thing you can find in these cars.
Same platform as Taigun
Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus are also built on the same platform as Kushaq and Taigun. It is believed that in this update, many cosmetic changes will be seen in Slavia and Virtus. Both sedans will have a newly designed front grille and updated headlamps. Connected LED DRLs can be provided in the Skoda Slavia sedan. Volkswagen may also introduce a similar feature and an illuminated logo.

Viewed from the side, the profile of the Slavia and Virtus will remain similar to the current model. The only change here will be the alloy wheels. It is expected that both the sedans will get newly designed alloy wheels. At the rear, the Slavia and Virtus will get new bumpers and tail lamps. Connected LED bar lights can also be included in these.

Talking about the features, Slavia and Virtus will get many features like large driver display, leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, electric sunroof, seat ventilation, rear AC vents, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic headlamps and automatic wipers. There is a possibility that Skoda may provide massager function for the rear seat in its Slavia, whereas the Virtus may not have it. ADAS features will not be available in both the sedans, but for safety, many features like 6 airbags, ABS and EBD will be provided as standard.
Slavia and Virtus engines
The Slavia and Virtus will get the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine as before. It generates 115 horsepower and 178 Nm torque. There is an option of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission with this engine. At the same time, the 1.5-liter TSI engine produces 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, and it comes with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Like done with SUVs, Skoda is expected to offer a feature-packed base variant as well. If this happens, then the base model of Skoda Slavia can also get many features like alloy wheels, cruise control, automatic headlamps, auto-dimming IRVM, electric ORVMs and automatic climate control. Apart from this, Skoda can also offer the option of automatic transmission with the base variant.
Skoda and Volkswagen prices
In terms of prices, Skoda and Volkswagen will try to remain quite competitive. Current prices for the Slavia start at ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Virtus starts at ₹10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Its rivals, such as the Hyundai Verna and the recently launched Honda City facelift, are priced between approximately ₹10.98 lakh (ex-showroom) to ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom).
