Lucknow School Summer Vacation: In view of the scorching heat and increasing impact of heat wave in Lucknow, the district administration has declared summer vacation in all government and private schools from May 22, 2026. This big decision was taken while giving priority to the safety of children amid 42 degree temperature.
The continuously increasing heat and heat wave in Lucknow has started adversely affecting the life of common people. The month of May is not even over yet and the temperature has forced people to remain confined to their homes. Most concern was being expressed about the health of small children. Meanwhile, taking a big decision, the district administration has declared summer vacation in schools of all boards from May 22, 2026.
According to the order issued by the district administration, this decision has been taken in view of the extreme heat and the warning of the weather department. The order will be applicable to all government, aided and private schools. The administration has clearly said that the safety of children is the top priority and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.

Administration strict after weather department’s warning
The temperature in the capital Lucknow has been continuously increasing for the last several days. The maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday. There is silence on the roads in the afternoon and the effect of strong hot winds is clearly visible. The Meteorological Department had already issued a warning and advised people not to go out of the house in the afternoon, drink enough water and adopt measures to prevent heatstroke. Despite this, regular classes were continuing in some schools, due to which the concern of parents was increasing.

The decision was taken keeping in mind the health of the children
The administration has said in its order that the extreme heat can have a severe impact on small children. The risk of problems like heat stroke, dehydration and heat stroke has increased. In such a situation, continuing the operation of schools could be risky for the health of the students. This is the reason why the district administration decided to implement summer vacation with immediate effect. Instructions have been given to the school management to ensure strict compliance with the order.
Parents got relief
Amidst the increasing effects of heat in Lucknow, this decision is being considered a big relief for parents and students. Many parents were continuously demanding to change school timings or declare holidays. Doctors have also advised children, elderly and sick people to take special precautions. According to health experts, going out between 12 noon to 4 pm can prove dangerous.

The district administration has appealed to the people that-
- Avoid going out in bright sunlight
- keep drinking adequate amount of water
- Do not send children to play in the sun
- wear light and cotton clothes
- cover your head when going out

Trouble may increase due to heat and humidity
Meteorologists believe that the effect of heat may increase further in the coming days. With the onset of Nautapa, the temperature is likely to rise further in entire North India including Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, administrative vigilance and health safety measures will become more important in the coming days. According to experts, the heat wave may be at its peak in the last week of May and early June. Therefore, there is a need to be extra careful regarding children and the elderly.
