Mahakal Bhasma Aarti 20 June 2026: Grand and attractive makeup was done during the Bhasma Aarti of Lord Mahakal on Saturday (20 June 2026) morning at the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple located in Ujjain. With the opening of the doors of the temple early in the morning, the process of worship started and all the gods and goddesses installed in the sanctum sanctorum were worshiped as per the rituals.

After this, Lord Mahakal was anointed with the holy water of Koti Teertha. Also, special worship was done with Panchamrit made from milk, curd, ghee, sugar and juice of various fruits. The divine consecration of the Lord took place amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and the echoing of bells.
During the worship, special decoration of Lord Mahakal was done by offering Hari-Om water. Bilva leaves, Rudraksh garlands and silver crown were offered to Baba Mahakal. Tripunda was worn on Baba’s head and his form was decorated with trident and damru.

Sheshnag-shaped silver crown, silver necklace, Rudraksh beads and garlands of fragrant flowers were used in the adornment. This form wearing the moon on the head is called Chandramauli form of Baba Mahakal. After the puja, fruits and sweets were offered to Lord Mahakal. After Kapoor Aarti and Naivedya, Bhasma Aarti was concluded as per tradition.

On behalf of Mahanirvani Akhara, sacred ashes were offered to Lord Mahakal. A large number of devotees reached the temple to witness this ancient tradition of offering ashes. At the time of Aarti, the entire temple complex echoed with shouts of “Jai Mahakal” and the devotees were seen immersed in devotion. After having divine darshan of Baba Mahakal, the devotees wished for happiness, peace and prosperity.
