Sant Prahlad Jani: No food, no water… Know the story of Sant Prahlad Jani who remained beyond hunger and thirst for 76 years.

Saint Prahlad Jani

No matter how much science has progressed today, there are still some mysteries in front of which even modern science fails. One such mystery was India’s famous saint Prahlad Jani, whom his devotees respectfully called Chunari Wali Mataji or Chundiwale Mataji. He claimed that he neither ate a single grain of food nor drank a drop of water for 76 years of his life. Initially the world considered it a superstition, but when doctors from India and abroad and defense institutions of the Government of India conducted many tests on him in closed rooms, the truth that came out shook the roots of science. Let us know about the unheard story of the life of Saint Prahlad Jani.

Who was Saint Prahlad Jani?

There have been many such saints and yogis in India, whose life stories have surprised people. One of these names is that of Saint Prahlad Jani. Born on 13 August 1929 in Charada village of Mehsana district of Gujarat, Prahlad Jani was also known by his followers as Chunariwale Mataji. It is said that he left worldly life at a very young age and embarked on the path of spiritual practice. He always wore red colored chunari and was considered a worshiper of Goddess Mahamaya. For this reason she was also addressed as Mataji.

Claimed not to feel hungry or thirsty

The most special aspect of the life of Saint Prahlad Jani was his claim that he neither ate food nor drank water for about 76 years. People associated with him said that in his childhood, Goddess Mahamaya had appeared to him and given him such a boon, after which he never felt hunger and thirst. It is believed that a kind of divine juice came out from his palate, which provided him energy. However, scientists had different opinions regarding this claim. But after examining his body, even the scientists were surprised.

When scientists started investigation

The claims of Saint Prahlad Jani had surprised not only the common people but also the scientists and doctors. For this reason a special study was done on him. In 2010, a team from the Defense Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, working under the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), studied his body.

During this time, he was kept in a special room for 15 days, where there was a system of monitoring all the time. The room had only essential amenities and their activities were monitored round the clock by cameras and experts. During this period, many ultrasounds, X-rays and many other medical tests were also done.

Health condition returned to normal even after 15 days

During the study, doctors found that Saint Prahlad Jani neither took food nor drank water. According to reports, his health condition also remained normal. This result was very surprising for scientists. However, experts had said that rather than any miracle, it should be linked to the extraordinary adaptability of the human body. Despite this, the team of scientists could not find answers to many questions related to his life.

This discovery was important for the army also

Defense Research and Development Organization and its associated institutions continuously conduct research to increase the efficiency of soldiers in difficult situations. Especially in the climate of desert and high hilly areas, measures are taken to keep the soldiers active for a long time. For this reason, the study of the life of Saint Prahlad Jani was also considered important. Scientists wanted to understand whether the human body could develop any such ability, which would enable it to survive for a long time even with less resources.

Died in 2020

Saint Prahlad Jani died on 26 May 2020 in Gujarat. At that time his age was about 90 years. Even after his death, stories, claims and research related to his life remain a topic of discussion. This is the reason why the name of Saint Prahlad Jani is taken among those selected saints of India, whose life forced both science and spirituality to think.
