Seoul: South Korean tech company Samsung is in the news for its upcoming tri-fold smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2. There is a stir in the tech world because a new patent has revealed that Samsung is preparing to provide a special place to keep the S-Pen stylus in this phone. The most important thing is that this slot will be inside the hinge of the phone (i.e. from where the phone turns). This will make it easier for users to always carry the S-Pen with them.
What are the new signs?
According to the patent documents that have surfaced, this slot of the stylus will be in the middle of the hinge on the right side of the phone. When the phone is fully open, the stylus will be visible between the middle and right side flaps. Based on this design, leakers have also made some pictures (renders), in which the phone is shown in purple color. Reports also say that a center hole-punch camera design is also provided on the right side of the foldable screen.
Meanwhile, there are also reports of Samsung’s first tri-fold phone, Galaxy Z TriFold, being withdrawn from the market. It is being told that this tri-fold model, launched in December 2025, was initially available only in a few countries like South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, UAE and America. According to reports, Samsung has stopped selling this model just three months after its launch.
Galaxy Z TriFold: What were the features?
If we talk about the features of Galaxy Z TriFold, it had a 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display. It came with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and peak brightness of 1600 nits. Apart from this, the phone also had a 6.5-inch full-HD+ cover display. This device was provided with Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, 16 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage. To power the phone, there was a 5600 mAh battery and support for 45 Watt wired fast charging. Tech experts believe that if Samsung turns into reality the idea of providing S-Pen inside the hinge in its next generation tri-fold phone, then it can prove to be a big game-changer in the foldable smartphone market.
