The company said that when it set up its manufacturing unit in Sriperumbudur in 2007, the area was emerging as an industrial hub. Over the years, as Samsung expanded, it also developed a strong network of suppliers, logistics providers and manufacturing partners, creating significant opportunities for local businesses.

Ecosystem strengthened in Sriperumbudur

“Today, the Sriperumbudur belt is home to a thriving ecosystem of component manufacturers and service partners, many of whom have continuously enhanced their capabilities to meet global standards in quality, efficiency and innovation,” the release said.

Suppliers got the benefit of partnership

An example of this is United Industries Plastics Private Limited, which has grown from a small operation with two manufacturing units to a large enterprise with six units in Chennai. There is a unit specifically dedicated to meet the needs of Samsung.

Keerthi Mahalingam, Director, United Industries Plastics Pvt Ltd, said, “Samsung treats us as a partner rather than a supplier. Over the last 13 years, there has been a significant knowledge transfer, from manufacturing practices to organizational systems. This has helped us grow into a stronger company.”

He further said that Samsung’s stringent quality systems, ESG practices and structured workplace standards have encouraged suppliers to upgrade their operations and adopt global best practices. “The entire belt has evolved over the years. Many companies have moved forward along with Samsung,” Mahalingam said.

A similar transformation is visible at Vignesh Polymers India Pvt Ltd, which has been operating in Sriperumbudur since 2007 and has been associated with Samsung for almost 15 years.

Selvakumar, Plant Head, Vignesh Polymers, said Samsung’s structured and visionary manufacturing approach has been a key strength of this partnership.

“With Samsung, planning is very systematic, from procurement schedules to delivery timelines. This helps us plan our operations better and invest with confidence,” he said. He said the collaboration has helped suppliers strengthen their capabilities in planning, procurement, quality and R&D, while also expanding Samsung’s own product portfolio and aligning them with global manufacturing standards.
