Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 may get these much anticipated upgrades

Samsung has recently launched the S26 series in the global market, but the buzz for its upcoming flagship device is already taking over the internet.

Adding fuel to the buzz are leaks and rumours that paint a picture of how the Samsung S27 Ultra may look. If current leaks are to be trusted, Samsung may be testing new battery technology and expanding payment compatibility for global users. If these advancements reach the final build, they could solve two longstanding issues with Samsung devices: battery capacity limits and region-locked NFC features. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 could get NFC support (Expected)

According to No-Genkin, Samsung has collaborated with East Japan Railway Company to bring FeliCa-based payments to global Galaxy smartphones. This would enable compatibility with services like Mobile Suica, allowing users to pay for transport and shopping in Japan.

FeliCa is a contactless payment system categorised as NFC-F and is developed by Sony Corporation. Unlike standard NFC systems used globally, FeliCa stores value directly on a secure chip, enabling fast offline transactions.

Other than the above-mentioned, the handset may sport a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED panel with a 144Hz dynamic refresh rate. Along with that, the smartphone is also expected to come with a Polar ID for secure facial recognition, and it could potentially be notch-free.

Under the hood, the device may draw its power from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. Moreover, it’s also anticipated to launch with UFS 5.0 internal storage that would increase the data transfer speed to speeds of 10.8 Gbps, and it may be coupled with up to 16 GB of LPDDR6 RAM.

The device is also said to run on One UI 9.5, which would be an Android 17 skin. Though it’s too early, leaks claim that Samsung may offer 7 years of software updates with the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra may house a silicon-carbon battery. The recent report from Schrödinger Intel claims that Samsung is testing battery prototypes ranging from 12,000mAh to 20,000mAh for its upcoming flagship.

Silicon-carbon batteries can store more energy than traditional lithium-ion cells that rely on graphite. Moreover, several Chinese brands have already adopted this approach, though long-term reliability is still being refined.

In terms of optics, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra might feature a triple camera setup. It may include a 200MP primary sensor with 50MP telephoto and a 50MP ultrawide lens.

The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to make its debut in the Indian market around February or March of 2027. Early reports suggest that it may cost around Rs 1,49,999.
