Samsung Galaxy S25 series may get One UI 9 update sooner than you expect: Here is what we know

Samsung appears to have begun internal testing of One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy S25 series. According to tipster Tarun Vats, who

the first internal test build on Samsung’s over-the-air update server.

The build’s software version is currently encrypted, preventing any further details from being extracted.

Last year, the first internal One UI 8 test build for the Galaxy S24 series was spotted on June 19. This year’s equivalent has turned up roughly two weeks earlier, suggesting Samsung’s software team has moved up its development schedule. One UI 9.0 is based on Android 17 and Samsung had already opened a beta programme for the Galaxy S26 series last month.

As for when Galaxy S25 owners can expect a public beta, Vats suggested June is possible, though July is more likely given that early test builds typically precede public betas by several weeks and timelines can shift if development hits snags.

When asked whether the S24 series was on a similar track, Vats said comparable testing activity for that lineup is unlikely to surface for at least another month.

Obviously, none of this is confirmed by Samsung and pre-release software timelines are always subject to change. That said, Vats has a reliable record on Samsung-related leaks and the earlier-than-usual test build for the S25 is a positive signal for owners of the current flagship.
