Salman Khan Begins Assam Flood Relief Work Through His NGO
According to a report by mid-day, has been coordinating with members of the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC) Assam while shooting for Vamshi Paidipally’s upcoming film in Mumbai. A source told the publication that the actor planned the relief work in multiple phases to ensure help reaches those who need it the most. The first phase has already begun.
Being Human, along with SKFC Assam, is distributing ready-to-eat food packets to affected families in Sivasagar from Guwahati. The packets reportedly include biscuits, jaggery, poha, puffed rice, bread, cheese, and jam. Apart from food, volunteers are also distributing drinking water, water purification tablets, sanitary pads and mosquito coils. The source added that Salman wanted every family to have enough food to last for at least three days until the situation begins to improve.
Schools And Hospitals Will Also Be Rebuilt
The second phase of the initiative is expected to begin next week. It will focus on supplying ration kits and essential medicines to flood-hit families. The final phase of the relief drive is more than just immediate relief. Being Human reportedly plans to help rebuild schools and hospitals that have been badly damaged in the floods, helping affected communities recover over the long term.
Bhumi Pednekar Also Extends Support
Salman Khan isn’t the only actor stepping forward. Bhumi Pednekar has also joined the relief efforts by partnering with the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF). The organization is currently providing ration kits, hygiene supplies, drinking water, and other essentials to families in Sivasagar. A source told mid-day that Bhumi decided to support the organisation after learning about its ongoing work in Assam. According to official estimates, nearly seven lakh people have been affected by the floods. Earlier this week, Assamese singer Papon, along with Vishal Dadlani, Divya Kumar, and Nilotpal Bora, also hosted a live Instagram charity concert, urging people to contribute towards the ongoing relief operations.
