A similar case came to light when a software engineer working in an MNC told that his salary has increased by only Rs 9 in two years. After this, users on social media also admitted that they too had been ‘cheated’.
Salary increased by only ‘9 rupees’ in two years
A software engineer living in Delhi-NCR expressed his pain on social media. He wrote that last year he had got a hike of only Rs 9, and this year he did not even get that. He now wants to leave the company. He wrote a post on Reddit with the title ‘I’m so done with this company and colleagues’, which went viral in no time. He wrote that he is made to work ‘like a slave’ even on weekends, but he feels ‘trapped’ in the job.
He joined a famous MNC as an intern in May 2024, after which he got a full-time job. He expected the starting package to be Rs 4.25 lakh per annum, but he got much less salary than this. He said that the job market was very bad after graduation, so he had to take this offer. He had no other option. He got this job with a service bond of two years.
If he has to leave the job before two years, he will have to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to the company. Additionally, employees are also required to give a notice period of 6 months, making it even more difficult to change jobs. He got a salary increase of only Rs 9 in the first year. “And this year, they didn’t even bother to give me that,” she wrote, expressing disappointment. Despite working hard for the company for two years, he is very disappointed due to lack of salary increase.

He wrote, ‘I am often treated like a slave.’ Thousands of rupees are spent on every trip, but the company does not pay any travel expenses. He often has to work even on weekends. The only saving grace is that in return he gets compensatory leave later. But, he does not get salary for the work he does. Expenses have increased in two years, but the salary remains the same. She wrote, ‘I feel like I’m stuck in a hole where everyone is taking advantage of me. I am not able to save even a little money and want to get out of this problem. After his post went viral on social media, many people commented that the situation is similar in almost every sector in India.
