After a man died after falling into a manhole in Sakinaka, Mumbai BJP chief Amit Satam has demanded a case of ‘culpable homicide’ be registered against those responsible. In another rain-related incident in the city, one person lost his life after a tree fell on him.
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): Mumbai BJP chief Amit Satam on Sunday reiterated the BJP’s demand to register a case of “culpable homicide not amounting to murder” against those responsible for the death of a man after he fell into a manhole in Sakinaka on Friday.

BJP’s demand to register a case of ‘non-intentional murder’
Earlier on Friday, BMC Mayor Ritu Tawde had taken a strong stand against the civic officials, demanding immediate suspension of the ward officer and suggested that charges of “culpable homicide” should be filed against those responsible in the Sakinaka manhole tragedy.
Satam said, “Our health committee chairman, Harish Bhandirge, had written two letters to the concerned ward officer identifying specific places where pruning of trees was required; a reminder was also sent on July 1. Despite this, the administration has remained insensitive… We now demand that the administration register a case of culpable homicide against him.”
Aslam Isak Shaikh, 55, had fallen into an open manhole in Sakinaka area of Andheri East during heavy rain on Friday. Police have registered a case against the contractor and laborers engaged in drainage repair work in connection with this incident.
Another rain related death
Apart from this death, a 63-year-old man died after a tree fell on a shop in Kurla amid strong winds and heavy rain, another rain-related tragedy in the city.

Satam targeted Uddhav Thackeray
Meanwhile, Satam also hit out at UBT Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray over his recent statements criticizing the BJP during the Ram Raksha protest rally.
Satam emphasized that the former Maharashtra Chief Minister had abandoned the Hindutva ideology espoused by Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray to forge an alliance with the Congress. He said Maharashtra witnessed an “unprecedented” political scenario where a sitting chief minister was ousted by MLAs from his own party.
Satam said, “Uddhav Thackeray joined hands with the Congress by abandoning the Hindutva ideology espoused by Balasaheb Thackeray. He forgot Lord Ram, and that is why his own MLAs ousted him from his own party. Maharashtra is witnessing an unprecedented political scenario: a sitting Chief Minister is being ousted from the party by 90% of the MLAs from his own party. This is what has happened with Uddhav Thackeray.” (ANI)
