Nehwal praised Sindhu’s courage in overcoming a difficult period full of injuries and expressed confidence that this title win will bring her confidence back. He praised Sindhu’s aggressive play and impressive wins over several top players, calling her comeback a testament to her champion mentality.
Sindhu regained her old form by defeating home favorite and world No. 3 Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-17 in the women’s singles final of the BWF Super 750 tournament on Sunday to clinch her maiden Japan Open title.

Nehwal told reporters, “You can never write off a champion. I think after winning this, her confidence has come back. She will always come back and do well. She has played at that level for so many years… The last two or three years were really very tough. She was trying to come out of injuries. Why is this victory special for Sindhu?
The win is Sindhu’s first Super 750 title and ended her title drought of more than two years. With this she also became the first Indian shuttler to win the prestigious Japan Open.
