CLEVELAND (AP) – Ryan Vilade contributed significantly to the Tampa Bay Rays’ success with three hits and two RBIs, including a crucial go-ahead single in the eighth inning, as the team defeated the Cleveland Guardians 3-2 on Monday night.
The win marked the Rays’ fifth consecutive victory, while the Guardians suffered their third straight loss and fourth in five games. Daniel Schneemann provided a highlight for Cleveland with a two-run homer in the fifth inning, and rookie Parker Messick struck out nine batters in 5 2/3 innings of play.
