R Ashwin On DRS reversal: Former Indian player R Ashwin has demanded a change in a rule between IPL 2026. Actually, a controversial decision in the last over of the match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians caught everyone’s attention. Due to which Punjab team had to face a loss of 1 run. In such a situation, R Ashwin believes that even if ICC does not change this rule, BCCI should change this rule for IPL.

Ashwin raised his voice to change this rule

Actually, on the last ball of 20 overs of Punjab Kings’ innings, Jasprit Bumrah hit the ball on the pads of Vishnu Vinod, which was immediately given out LBW by the umpire, but Punjab Kings took a review. Ball tracking in DRS made it clear that the ball’s impact was outside the off stump, hence the decision was overturned and Vishnu Vinod was declared not out. During this time, Vishnu Vinod had also run one run, but before the completion of the run, the on field umpire gave him out, hence the ball went dead. Due to which Punjab did not get 1 run even after changing the decision.

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin gave a sharp reaction to this incident on social media platform X. Ashwin wrote, ‘Due to the wrong decision, Punjab lost 1 run. This rule should be changed immediately! Just like Impact Sub is a rule of IPL, similarly changes should be brought in IPL on DRS reversal, even if there is a delay in ICC.

What will happen if the rules change?

This tweet of Ashwin is becoming increasingly viral. His argument is that when the decision is proved wrong then why should the team suffer additional losses? According to ICC rules, if the decision is overturned in review after giving LBW or caught out, then the original decision remains in effect in scoring. In such a situation, Ashwin believes that if the on-field umpire’s decision is proved wrong, the team should not suffer any loss of runs and the runs scored on that ball should be added to the team’s account.
