River Indie Production Crosses 50,000 Units – Sales Surge 264% YoY

River Mobility has rolled out the 50,000th Indie electric scooter from its manufacturing facility in Hoskote, Karnataka. The milestone comes less than three years after Indie was launched and at a time when River is witnessing its strongest sales momentum yet.

What started as a relatively small EV startup has gradually become more visible in India’s electric scooter market. River now has more than 75 stores across the country, compared to just 34 outlets when Indie Gen 3 was launched in October 2025.

River Indie Enters Top 5 Electric Scooters

June 2026 was particularly significant for River. Indie registered sales of 5,217 units, compared to 1,432 units in June 2025, resulting in 264.32% YoY growth. This was enough to place River Indie among the top five bestselling electric scooters in India during the month.

TVS iQube led with 47,331 units, followed by Bajaj Chetak at 40,376 units, Ather Rizta at 24,742 units and Hero Vida at 20,416 units. While River remains considerably smaller than these established manufacturers, reaching more than 5,000 monthly sales shows how quickly Indie has scaled in recent months.

Indie Gen 3 Helped Strengthen The Package

in October 2025 at Rs 1.46 lakh. The update brought new app-based functionality, revised instrumentation, Hill Hold Assist and grippier tyres, along with improvements to riding dynamics based on customer feedback.
Indie continues with a 4 kWh battery, offering an IDC range of 161 km. Peak motor output stands at 6.7 kW, with a top speed of 90 km/h in Rush mode.

Current ex-showroom price stands at Rs 1,55,199. River’s retail expansion has also accelerated considerably. From 34 stores in October 2025, the network has now grown beyond 75 outlets, bringing the company close to the 80-store target it had previously announced.

Yamaha Partnership Adds Another Dimension

River’s growth story is not limited to its own Indie scooter. The company has also partnered with Yamaha for the Japanese manufacturer’s entry into India’s electric scooter market. at Rs 1.67 lakh, is manufactured by River and is a rebadged version of the Indie. It uses same 4 kWh battery and 6.7 kW motor.

This partnership gives River an additional manufacturing opportunity beyond its own retail business and also brings the backing of a major global two-wheeler brand. With Indie now among India’s top five electric scooters, a rapidly expanding retail network and Yamaha partnership adding scale, the 50,000-unit milestone comes at an important point in River Mobility’s growth journey.
