Richa Chadha Reunites with Sneha Khanwalkar for ‘Musafiri’ Title Track, Calls Her ‘Lucky Charm’

Actress Richa Chadha has once again collaborated with acclaimed musician Sneha Khanwalkar for the title track of her upcoming non-fiction series, ‘Musafiri’.

This reunion holds special significance for Chadha, as she fondly recalls Khanwalkar’s debut in the film industry alongside her own in ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’.

The ‘Musafiri’ title track, composed and sung by Sneha Khanwalkar, is described as embodying a ‘restless soul’ that refuses to settle. Chadha expressed her admiration for Khanwalkar, stating, “I am proud to call Sneha a friend and if India has a thousand stories, Sneha will probably find the soundtrack for all of them. I love the humming, curious, sometimes mischievous and sometimes lullaby like quality of the song.”

Chadha further emphasized their long-standing professional and personal connection, noting, “My first film as an actor was ‘Oye Lucky!’, which also marked her debut. My first film as a Producer ‘Girls will be Girls’ featured a song from Sneha and now my first as a Creator. She really is my lucky charm.”

Sneha Khanwalkar lauded Chadha’s independent voice and her ability to blend journalistic education with entertainment in ‘Musafiri’. She shared insights into their collaborative process for the track, revealing, “When she told me to make a title song for it, I gave her a basic rhythmic track with a cue singing in gibberish. She then herself wrote the lyrics over it for me to record with. It’s always fun working with Richa.”

Khanwalkar is widely recognized for her groundbreaking work in films like ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ and the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ series, making her only the second woman to receive a Filmfare nomination in the Best Music Director category after Usha Khanna.
