Rajpal Yadav got embroiled in a legal dispute in 2010 after taking a loan of about Rs 5 crore for his first film as a director ‘Ata Pata Laapata’. After the failure of the film, several checks bounced and a case was registered under the Negotiable Instruments Act. After adding interest and penalty, the amount was said to reach around Rs 9 crore. Following the order of the High Court, he surrendered in Tihar Jail on 5 February, from where he got interim bail on 16 February.
