Heavy rent, but no water

When Nikhil, a resident of Mumbai, told on social media that despite paying such expensive rent, he was facing water shortage, the matter went viral. People started talking openly about the problems of those living in expensive apartments. Nikhil shared a video on Instagram, in which he talked about the problem of water supply in his high-rise society. He claimed that the rent in his society is very high, but the people living here are very troubled due to poor water supply. Nikhil told that the rent in his society starts from Rs 70,000 per month and he himself pays Rs 90,000 as rent for his flat.

Even after paying so much rent, the society is not able to provide regular supply of water. Often the water supply gets stopped without any notice, due to which people’s lives are badly affected. Nikhil said that the society arranges for water tankers, but this is insufficient for the hundreds of people living in two towers of 37 floors each. It is a big challenge for so many people to depend on tankers. “This situation is ridiculous and has made our daily lives difficult,” Nikhil said. He also said that the water often goes away at midnight, causing the biggest problem to families going to work in the morning and children going to school.

Same situation everywhere

Many people commented on Nikhil’s video and shared their similar problems. Water shortage is already a major problem due to the scorching heat in North India. There is a severe shortage of clean drinking water in many places. People complained that the government system is not able to do anything special in this matter. Many users wrote that the administration is failing to provide clean water to those who are already facing the brunt of high rent and inflation. One user wrote, “This is the situation everywhere.” Meanwhile, there is also news that if the monsoon is delayed, the water supply in Mumbai may come to a complete halt.
